Baseflex Adhesive

Description:

This acrylic-based product with controlled granulometry aggregates and different additives is mixed with Portland Type 1 cement to produce a cement-based adhesive.

Uses:

Baseflex is used as the basic component of high-resistance adhesives to bond expanded polystyrene surfaces to different substrates. Because of its elastomeric characteristics, it also offers excellent results in sealing joints and/or cracks.

Limitations:

This product should not be used at temperatures below 5°C (40°F) or above 42°C (105°F). In exterior conditions, it should not be applied on rainy days or when it may rain.

Drying Time:

To the touch: 3 hrs.
Hardens in 24 hrs.

Yield:

One 30kg bucket of Baseflex adhesive mixed with Portland cement covers approximately 8 to 10 m2 (100 sq ft), depending on the surface.

Preparation:

Baseflex is mixed with Portland cement in a one-to-one ratio by volume. For best results, mechanical mixers are recommended to ensure complete mixing. If the resulting mixture is too dry, a small amount of water may be added.

Applications:

For the installation of mouldings and/or accessories, cover the rear part of the molding/accessory with a 4 to 6 mm (1/4”) layer of the cement-based adhesive using a notched trowel or spatula to remove any excess adhesive. Make sure the whole contact area is covered. The adhesive remains in an ideal state for application for approximately one hour. Gray or white cement may be used in the mixture according to the desired color of the finished effect. This adhesive is not recommended for bonding to wood or metals.

Storage:

If stored in a cool, dry place, Baseflex will remain in good condition for up to six months.
